California has always been a great vacation destination. There are so many fun and interesting things to do and see in this beautiful state. I speak from experience when I say that California was the coolest place I have ever had the pleasure of vacationing to. One place in particular that has always stuck out to me was the beautiful city of San Francisco, which is home to the breath-taking Golden Gate Bridge. I have only ever seen the bridge in movies or in pictures, so driving down the Golden Gate Bridge was fantastic once in a lifetime experience.

San Francisco is full of entertaining and fun amusements. When I wandered the city, I visited many busy tourist areas such as Fisherman’s Wharf. There are souvenir shops on every corner and little restaurants that sell freshly-caught seafood. Although it is heavily tourist-influenced area, this part of the city is full of fun things to do. The scent of just-baked sourdough bread is abundantly delightful in the city air and the energy is so exciting at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Another fantastic destination in San Francisco is Ghirardelli Square, which is home to a famous chocolate factory and an abundance of boutiques and restaurants. This is great idea for chocolate lovers because people can learn about the history of the factory and enjoy some delicious Ghirardelli products at the same time. Personally, chocolate is one of my favorite things in the world, so going here was such a great experience.

A very historical part of the city is Alcatraz Island, which is located in the San Francisco Bay. The boat ride was breathtaking as I sailed on the beautiful waters of the San Francisco Bay to the island. Upon arrival, I took a guided tour of the old prison where infamous prisoners like Al Capone and George “Machine Gun” Kelly were previously incarcerated. It was an incredibly interesting experience and I highly recommend the tour of Alcatraz to anyone who enjoys history.
